The 5 Year Engagement

Comedy star Jason Segel has appeared in hit movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up, and I Love You Man. Unfortunatley it looks like his streak of hilarious movies has come to an end with this one. The movie titled The 5 Year Engagement is based on just that, a couple who falls in love has a great relationship and the perfect lives until they have to begin their wedding plans.
Based on previews, seemingly every predictable problem that can arise during an engagement does (just like we've seen in countless other wedding themed movies). The reunion of Segel and Nick Stoller, the director who also directed Forgetting Sarah Marshall, is the only thing that would make me want to give this movie a chance. I just hate going to movies that I know how they are going to end and know everything else that will probably happen as well.

The Raven

The movie takes place in the early 1800s where a serial killer methodically murders his victims mimicking the fiction of Edgar Allen Poe. Edgar Allen Poe must join an investigation with the Baltimore police department to take down the killer. The killer taunts Edgar throughout the film and even endangers those dearest to him.

The film, The Raven, starring John Cusack, Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson, Oliver Jackson Cohen, opens in theaters April 27th.

THE LUCKY ONE

Opening April 20th 2012

Directed by Scott Hicks and produced by Denise Di Novi, The Lucky One stars Zach Efron as (Logan) and Taylor Schilling as (Beth). The film is based off of the book written by Nicholas Sparks which was a successful seller. The movie runs slightly over 100 minutes and is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Logan is a U.S marine who is returning home to North Carolina. During his time in Iraq, he kept a picture that he had found. It was a picture of a beautiful woman who he claims was what kept him alive during his stay. He does not know this woman but over time, he learns her name is Beth and where she lives. He shows up at her door one day and begins to work with her family in a family-ran local kennel. Beth has mistrust issues and complications in her life, but a romance develops between the two.

The film is rated PG and has the potential to be a good film; more directed torward females. Nicholas Sparks has written many love novels that have later been made into films. I personally will not see this movie in theatres because it is not my genre but definately go see it if you want to see a chick flick!!

THE THREE STOOGES

OPENING APRIL 13TH!

The Three Stooges is directed by the Farrelly brothers (Dumb and Dumber, Shallow Hal, The Ringer) is a PG for slapstick action violence, some rude and suggestive humor including language comedy. The film stars Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes, and Will Sasso. It had a 30 million dollar budget which should make it all back and gross more. The movie runs 92 minutes and has several appearances from other celebrities.

As babies, Larry, Curley, and Moe were left on a doorstep by a nun and they grow up finger-pointing and getting into all sorts of adventures. Out to save their childhood home, only The Three Stooges could become embroiled in an oddball murder plot...while also stumbling into starring in a phenomenally successful TV reality show.

Personally, I don't believe this movie will be very good. The Ferrelly brothers are great directors, especially for comedies, but this particular film leaves me skeptical. I wouldn't go see it without hearing from others about how it was. The film also had a decade worth of casting problems which leads me to believe that it may have been rushed and the actors aren't right for it.

Think Like a Man

                                              In Theatres April 20th

Think like a man is a romatic comedy starring comedian Kevin Hart, Chris Brown, Gabrielle Union, and Megan Good. Obviously such a star studded cast is the movies biggest selling point. Chris Brown is one of the biggest R&B in stars in the world right now, and Kevin Hart might be one of the most famous and funniest comedians around. Previously, Hart has had small roles in movies such as, The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Scary Movie 3 and 4, all of which he was absolutely hysterical in. This is probably his biggest role to date and I'm excited about seeing him in such a large role because everything he does is funny.
The movie is about four friends and how their dating lives are affected by a new book written by Steve Harvey titled "Think Like a Man", that gives women dating advice on how to handle men. Almost all of the reviews that I have seen so far have been positive. People are blogging about how the whole movie you dont stop laughing and how original it is.

They expect an enjoyable vacation in the woods, but find themselves victim of an ancient ritual where they will be sacrificed. All this movie is missing is Bruce Campbell.

TITANIC 3D

Released April 4th 2012!

Im sure everyone has seen Titanic. In 1997, James Cameron released the original version. If you didn't know, the film remains the second highest grossing film of all time at 1.8 billion. Yeah, its the same exact film only in 3D, but there is a new experience. The film made that much money for a reason.

Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) wins a pair of tickets to board the Titanic in a game of poker. The ships destination is America. Rose (Kate Winslet) is an upper class young woman who plans to marry a man named Cal (Billy Zane) because of his wealth. During an attempt of suicide, Jack convinces Rose not to jump overboard. The two fall in love instantly. Cal begins to recognize the feelings that the two have for each other and decides to block Jack out as much as possible. Later on, the ship hits an iceberg and slowly begins to sink. Lifeboats are limited and Jack and Rose are left without one.

The film runs 194 minutes and is again rated PG-13. The new film was 18 million to produce, which will absolutely make its money back within the first night of the showing. Its a great film for everyone and if you haven't seen the original, you must see the 3D!!

GOON (2012)

Released Friday March 30th!!

Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott) has started to feel unsuccessful and ostracized from his brother and father who are both doctors. One day Doug and his friend Pat (Jay Baruchel) attend a minor league hockey game and during it, Pat begins to taunt the opposing team. One of the opposing players climbs into the stands to attack Pat and in his defense, Doug quickly throws a punch and knocks him out.

The crowd is pumped up by the quick fight and the head coach develops and idea. Doug gets a phone call shortly after about a position as an enforcer (a player who's role is to protect his teammates by hitting the opposing players).  All he has to do now is learn how to skate. Eventually he does and he gains much popularity and soon enough he is called up to another team in Canada. The fans fall in love with Doug. Doug becomes romantically involved with Eva (a hockey fan with a penchant for players).

Four games remain and Dougs team is trying to secure a playoff spot. After the teams best player is concussed, Doug savagely beats up the player until he is unconscious. He is then suspended. Enemies are made and Doug must overcome twist and turns throughout the season.

The film runs 90 minutes and is rated R. I personally think this will be a good movie. SWC is an incredibly funny actor and the idea of him fighting people on ice sounds too good to be true. The film hasn't been advertised a whole lot, but do not be surprised if it does well in the box office!!

This movie is in theaters March 30th 2012.

  Brake (2012)

Okay, I didn't even see that this movie "Brake" was coming out. I saw it last second and honestly it looked kind of cool. It has a different plot than most movies; its a simplistic one, but I think it has the potential to be a successful film. Directed by Gabe Torres Produced by James Walker, Nathan West, Gabe Torres and

Written byTimothy Mannion, Brake is a fast moving adventure film that has a cut-to-the-chase straight forwardness that will keep you tuned in. Brake is jam packed with twist and turns. Just when you think you have figured it out, you are wrong. You will be thinking about this one for a while.

Jeremy Reins (Stephen Dorff) is an American secret service agent awakens in the trunk of a car and has no idea on why or how he ended up in there. He progressively puts the pieces together of why he is in there and what his mission is. It is terrorists who have taken him and they wish to know the whereabouts of "roulette", a place where the president is taken in t he event of a terrorists attack. The more time that he wastes on giving out the whereabouts, he experiences cruelty, such as a tube of wasps released into the trunk.

The film runs 92 minutes and is not yet rated, but it appears to be a pg-13 movie. I think it will be a good movie, just not publicized as much as any other. Give it a shot and go see this film this weekend!

American Reunion

The latest in the American Pie films set to release in less than three weeks is titled "American Reunion." It truly is a reunion as all of the original cast members from American Pie 1 are back, including Jason Biggs (Jim), Sean William Scott (Stiffler), Tara Reid (Vicky), Chris Klein (Oz), Alyson Hannigan (Michelle), and Shannon Elizabeth (Nadia). After a bunch of spin off movies that really didnt do that well, such as "Band Camp", it looks like the reuniting of the original cast is setting up to be another classic. Directing this film will be Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who directed all of the popular "Harold and Kumar" movies. The film is based on a 10 year reunion weekend for the high school class, most of whom have not seen in each other since they graduated. Apparently, some relationships have changed over time but certain people haven't. After a few bad misses with the spin off films, this looks like a great ending to the story. The films really haven't been the same since American Wedding which most of the original characters and was absolutely hysterical. I think that it was important that if they were going to do this reunion type movie to cap it off to have all of the original cast members that made American Pie a classic comedy and the previews look like we won't be disappointed.

The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where Districts offer one boy and girl to compete in a reality TV show where only one can survive. Their survival is streamed live to peoples TVs throughout the country, where they watch their tributes fight to the death.                      Jeff Who Lives At Home

                                                Opening Friday March 16th!!

Directed by Jay Duplass and produced by Steven Rales and Jason Reitman (Thank You For Smoking and Up in the Air), Jeff Who Lives At Home stars Jason Segel. At the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, the movie received positive reviews. Segel gained his popularity through the film "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". He is one of the best actors of his genre (comedy) today.

The film is about two brothers and the miscues in their lives. Jeff (Segel) is 30 years old and has been living at home his entire life. He abuses marijuana and hasn't felt too motivated during his life. He explains how he is waiting to understand his life's fate.He watches the movie "Signs" all day.  His brother (Ed Helms) is a business man who is struggling with a failed marriage. He purchases a sports car (Porsche) to relieve his midlife crisis. His wife does not approve; from a financial standpoint. The phone rings while Jeff is at home and the person asks for "Kevin". Jeff believes that this is his fate and that this is his "sign". The two confront each other about their issues and overcome hilarious obstacles along the way.

The film runs 83 minutes. It had a budget of 10 million which will most likely make all of its money back. It is rated R due to the sexual reference, profanity and drug reference.

It appears to be a successful movie. The last 3 films that Segel has been in have all grossed at least 150 million. Expect this movie to keep pace with those. Go see this movie on Friday when it comes out!!!

21 Jump Street

21 Jump Street is a new comedy starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. The two are former high school classmates who end up in the police academy together and form an unlikely friendship due to their pairing as partners on the squad. Based on the coming attractions I think Jonah Hill will bring a good quality of humor, just like he did in his breakout role in "Superbad."
Channing Tatum has had a lot of serious roles in his career such as "Dear John" and "Step Up", however I think he does a good job adjusting to the comedy scene ever since his role in movies like "She's the Man" and "The Dilemma."
Even though the main plot of the movie has been done before, where older police officers or reporters go under cover in high schools and pose as students (never been kissed), I think this will still be a funny movie because of the pairing of the two stars and their contrasting comedy styles.

John Carter (March 9th 2012)

John Carter is an action packed sci-fi/fantasy film being brought to the big screen this March. The movie is based on a series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs, who is probably most notably known as being the creator of Tarzan.

John Carter, a former Confederate Captain, is mysteriously transported to Mars (otherwise referred to as Barsoom) where he is forced to face conflicts between the nations residing on the planet. As natural resources dwindle the peoples hostilities intensify.

With the backing of Disney, I'm sure will do well at the box office. Check out the film March 9th.

                  Released Friday, March 2nd 2012!

Project X is a comedy film produced by Todd Philips (Producer of The Hangover, The Hangover Pt. 2, Old School, and Road Trip). Phillips is one of the best producers of our generation and understands what it takes to make a good film.

Project X is about a high school teenager who is turning 17 (Thomas) and his friends decide to throw a wild party at his house while his parents are away. It was meant to be a low key party but a mass text message was sent throughout the school and hundreds of people end up showing up. Cops try to break the party up and even they are forced to retreat and to bring in the SWAT team. The film is rated R; there is strong language and scenes. There is drug reference also.

During its first weekend, the film made 20.7 million and has attracted a younger crowd; mainly 17-25 years of age. It has gotten great reviews and should end up grossing 100 million. Although there is not quite anyone famous in the film, it has already made back the budget, plus more. The budget was 12 million and as of March 8th, it has made nearly 26 million. Expect this number to increase drastically this upcoming weekend.
